Cruisin’ the 50’s
Classic Cars to drive you wild
Cruisin’ the 50’s is an early evening event in downtown Newburyport, Massachusetts where the owners of amazing vintage automobiles showcase their works of art.
This year proved to be an even grander experience than ever, bringing us Back in Time with cars lined up throughout Newburyport’s Historic Market Square and the surrounding streets, including the DeLorean from the popular movie “Back to the Future.” Many snagged photo-opts with character models from the film.
Proceeds from the shoots went to the Micheal J. Fox Foundation. In addition to this main attraction, over 200 Classic Cars from throughout New England cruised into position at 4 p.m. sharp, followed shortly thereafter by the Super Secret Mystery Vehicle appropriately sectioned off with red velvet ropes and parked in front of Newburyport.com VIP M.K. Benatti Jewelers on the corner of State and Middle Streets.
Throughout the night while indulging in one gorgeous vintage vehicle after the next, the Transistors played great classic tunes from a stage in Market Square where some participants danced to their famous cover beats from the 1950’s.
The Newburyport.com Team (#Chex the Puppy Dalmatian included) was also in position next to the Delahaye show-stopper, signing fans up for FREE giveaways thanks to our Newburyport.com VIPs Brine Oysters & Crudo and Not Your Average Joe’s, both offering $50 gift certificates to winners. The grand prize was courtesy of VIP Orange Leaf of Newburyport, giving guests a chance to win an Orange LIMO ride for their child and 5 friends, plus free FROYO for all!
The winners are soon to be announced. Best of luck to all and we’ll see you next year!

You have probably heard a few nautical metaphors over the years, sayings such as, “A boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into” or “You know what boat stands for? Break Out Another Thousand!” The funny thing is that most of the people making these statements are boat owners. Now you […]
