Newburyport is a City proud of its Coast Guard heritage and its access to life on the water.  For boat owners, Newburyport has many marina’s and for those who choose to not to own, they can join Freedom Boat Club and use their entire fleet of boats.

If visiting Newburyport, we recommend taking a historic harbor tour on the Yankee Clipper, a Catamaran tour on the 9th Wave, or board the Captain’s Lady III to experience a Newburyport Whale Watch.

Birthplace of the U.S. Coast Guard, Newburyport is located on the southern bank of the Merrimack River, 3 miles from the inlet Newburyporteans call, The Bar, where the Merrimack meets the Atlantic Ocean.

VHF 16 is your connection to current inlet conditions at the river’s entrance, while our Harbormaster manages the guidelines of the Newburyport waterways on VHF 12.

And don’t forget to check the Newburyport Merrimack River Tides, especially if you’re heading out to catch some Stripers!
