Newburyport Lions Club Thanksgiving Dinner

The Newburyport Lions Club Thanksgiving Dinner is once again offering local families a free all-the-trimmings meal in a traditional holiday atmosphere. All are welcome to this one-seating dinner, which will be served on Thanksgiving Day at 12:30 PM at the Newburyport Senior Center (331 High Street, in front of the Bresnahan Elementary School). The menu will consist of Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Peas with Pearled Onions, Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Rolls with Butter, and Assorted Desserts.

For those who need a ride there will be a bus providing transportation starting at 11 AM, with stops at Woodman Way, Park Circle, Horton Terrace, North Atkinson Street, Sullivan Building, James Steam Mill, Salvation Army, and the Heritage House. Those who are interested in a ride are welcome to wait outside or in the main lobby for the bus to arrive.

The Newburyport Lions Club Thanksgiving Dinner is made possible by the collaboration of many business, groups, and volunteers throughout the community. All of the turkeys served at this Thanksgiving dinner will be cooked by Lions Club’s partners at Anna Jaques Hospital. The “carving crew” from Inn Street Barber Shop will assist with carving and preparing all the turkey. The meals that will be home-delivered are packed in thermal-insulated bags from the Institution for Savings. The Newburyport Garden Club will donate all Thanksgiving centerpieces that adorn the tables. In the Senior Center’s kitchen you will find members of the Newburyport Rotary Club and the Exchange Club of Greater Newburyport, employees from Market Basket, volunteers from Our Neighbors Table, Yankee Homecoming, and more.

The Newburyport Lions Club Thanksgiving Dinner is currently in need of desserts such as pies, cookies, and brownies. If you would like to donate desserts, please feel free to drop them off the day before or the day of the event at the Newburyport Senior Center.

The Newburyport Lions Club is also seeking volunteers to help in the kitchen, serve the food, make home deliveries, and more. If you would like to volunteer and be a part of this great meal, please contact event chair Donald Jarvis at or call 978–308–9186.
