We also provide exemplary residential and corporate landscaping services, and interior plantscaping design/implementation. Regularly, Nunan’s offers a variety of classes on floral design and hosts seasonal events throughout the year, which are open to the public.
Albert D. Nunan started Nunan Florist & Greenhouses as a florist shop in Saugus, Massachusetts in 1917. Later, he relocated to Georgetown, Massachusetts. After a long and successful career, Albert passed the business down to his son Ken, who owned and managed Nunan’s for many years. In 1985, Ken was ready to retire and found two people who were eager to purchase the business.
Steve Flynn Sr. was born and raised in Middleton with 7 other siblings. During the summers and after school Steve and most of his siblings worked at Middleton Greenhouses located right down the street from their family home. During his high school years Steve knew he wanted to have a career in the agricultural world. A few years later, having a family of his own and pouring all his time into his work, Steve wanted a business of his own. Bill Guerrini was the grower there and a best friend to Steve who also lived in Middleton. Bill had the same passion for the agricultural world as Steve and spent most of his days on site taking care of all the crops. The two together decided that purchasing a place of their own was the best decision for them and their families. So, after meeting with Ken Nunan, a deal was made, a partnership was formed and an old business took on a new life.
Respectfully keeping Ken’s family name on the business, Steve and Bill grew Nunan’s into a larger and more diversified business. Over the last 30 years, Steve and Bill turned Nunan’s into what is today a full service florist, greenhouse & garden center while incorporating landscaping, plant rentals and interior plantscaping into the business. Bill is semi-retired now but comes in several times a month to help with all the crops in the greenhouses. Steve’s sister Maureen followed Steve and Bill from the beginning and is the Manager of the Garden Center area where you can find all your indoor plants. Steve’s sister Maryanne is the Office Manager, his wife Christine works in the office, his son Stephen Jr. now has the role of Owner/General Manager and his other son Brody is a full time employee. Stephen Jr.’s son Jordan, now 3rd generation, is working full time on the property. Steve Sr.’s 3 daughters, his other siblings as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews are always eager to lend a helpful hand during the busy spring, the holidays, or any special events when needed.
Next Generation, New Ideas
Stephen Jr. resides in Georgetown right next to Nunan’s. He has 4 children and has followed in his father’s footsteps. You will always see him on the property 7 days a week. Growing up in the family business Stephen Jr. has learned a great deal about the business, the agricultural industry and the need to stay diversified due to the slow seasons. Today we see and hear about Agritourism which involves any agriculturally based operation that brings visitors to a farm, such as the corn mazes and pick-your-own pumpkins. Going with this thought and doing a lot of research, Stephen Jr. proposed the idea of adding a mini golf course to the business and calling it Nunan’s Garden Golf. How does a mini golf course relate you might ask? Well, Nunan’s mini golf course is a very well designed garden atmosphere with no structures such as dinosaurs and windmills. It is a peaceful walk through beautiful gardens as you enjoy your game of mini golf. They planted their own greenhouse grown crops of annuals, perennials as well as nursery stock they carry yearly in their nursery. Many of the unique material is labeled so if you come across something you like, just flip over your score card and write down the plants you like on the “plant wish list” so you can return at your convenience and find them in their nursery or plant area.
If you have an appreciation for exceptional design, top quality products and friendly attentive service, a visit to Nunan’s Florist, Greenhouse & Garden Center is a must.

Nunan’s Café Sarina: What’s the Story?
For those who don’t know, Café Sarina is named after the owner’s youngest daughter. This brand-new, locally-sourced, farm-to-table café + restaurant is set to open at the end of May in Georgetown, MA. The inspiration behind both Nunan’s Café Sarina and its name comes from Nunan’s owner Stephen Flynn Jr’s daughter Sarina.
When she was born in 2010, it was discovered that little Sarina had a little something extra – Down Syndrome. That didn’t stop her, however, and she continues to teach everyone the importance of slowing down and finding joy and beauty in the little things. Flynn says, Café Sarina “has been named in honor of our daughter Sarina, who has showed us to take time to stop and enjoy the moment.”
Café Sarina is a locally-sourced, farm-to-table café + restaurant serving light breakfast, coffee, weekend brunch, lunch + dinner. Inside, you’ll find a rustic, relaxing atmosphere overlooking an outdoor patio and gorgeous garden. With Nunan’s Florist + Greenhouses being a small, local business as well, Café Sarina’s goal is to support small businesses and farms by sourcing ingredients on their menu from local vendors. On the Café Sarina menu, hungry guests will find fresh smoothies, coffee, sandwiches + salads, soups + specials. On the weekend, guests of Nunan’s Café Sarina can also enjoy an assortment of breakfast favorites including breakfast sandwiches, create-your-own breakfast, waffles, and much more.
In addition to Café Sarina, in the new building you’ll find Kallie’s Kones, a sweet little spot serving award-winning ice cream from Richardson’s, a local, family-owned dairy farm. Kallie’s Kones is inspired by another one of Flynn’s lovely daughters. At the young age of four, Kallie fought her battle with cancer, and she won. She is truly a survivor, and gratefully remains cancer free to this day. During her treatment, even when she barely had any appetite, she never hesitated to enjoy a big bowl of ice cream at the end of the day. She reminds us to celebrate every little milestone with your loved ones and to always, always leave room for ice cream.
Café Sarina’s windows and patio overlook a garden meticulously kept by Nunan’s gardeners. Within the garden, guests will find a state-of-the-art mini-golf course affectionately called Garden Golf. Featuring running water elements + gorgeous natural greens surrounding the putting green, the course is complete with signage for those wanting to learn a little about the plants.
