Old Newbury Christmas Tree Bonfire Fundraiser 2023

Tree Burning at Spencer Peirce Little Farm

Old Newbury Bonfire Party & Fundraiser

Mark your calendar for the Old Newbury Bonfire a “toasty” annual winter tradition and community wide fundraiser, Saturday, January 14th from 3:00 – 8:00 pm! The bonfire is typically lit at dusk, or whenever the Fire Department deems it to be safe. Dusk is at approximately 4:30 pm. Depending on the year, it can be quite cold before the bonfire is lit, but very quickly this enormous mountain of Christmas trees becomes a stunning bonfire that warms its guests as they watch in awe!

In honor of the original purchase of Newbury, MA in 1701, the 11th Annual Old Newbury Bonfire benefits the Newbury Volunteer Fire Department, Protection Fire Company #2 and Historic New England.

The event is held on Saturday, January 14th, but if you’re interested in including your Christmas Tree in this community, 3-story bonfire you must drop it off by 5 pm on Wednesday, January 11th at one of the locations below. Please do not bring any trees to Spencer Peirce Little Farm or Tendercrop Fields as both are private property. If you live in Newburyport, trees that are picked up between Jan. 2nd and 9th will go to the Bonfire, but please make sure that all decorations and lights are removed and please do NOT bag your tree. Note that tree pick up may differ from your standard trash day.
