Plum Island’s Fresh Seafood Tradition
If you’re looking for a good lobst-a—and high quality fresh seafood—locals know a trip to “the island” to visit Bob Lobster is a must. From traditional lobster rolls and seafood platters to creative specialty lobster rolls like The Spicy and The Avocado, there is literally something on the menu for every seafood lover.
Owners, a.ka. The Bob Lob Crew, Paul Rooney, Jasmine Lewan, Brad DeLibero, and Kim-soo DeLiberoal are all local Plum Islanders. They purchased the restaurant from THE Bob (and his wife Joyce) of Bob Lobster in 2017 with promises to carry on the tradition of offering high quality seafood in a friendly and laid back atmosphere.
Customer walk up to the counter to place their order and the food is delivered to their tables. Outside seating is filled with casual picnic tables, including a covered area to protect against the elements, while inside has a sleek, nautical look with booths and tables. If you sit inside, you can also purchase beer and wine to pair with your meal. Alcohol is not allowed outside.
Of course Bob Lobster is known for excellent lobsters, but they also serve delicious chowders, fried seafood, homemade crab cakes, salads, and Chef Brad’s specialty, poutines. And don’t forget to leave room for ice cream, Bob Lobster proudly serves Richardson’s!
After you enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner, make sure to visit their fresh seafood market to purchase fish, clams, scallops, and more for a home cooked meal the next day. Or if you don’t feel like being the chef, grab a homemade take and bake seafood pie or lobster mac n’ cheese.
Bob Hartigan, a commercial lobsterman for over 30 years, started selling his catch out of his home basement back in 1982 and became so well known that no sign was needed. The islanders always knew where to find him. Bob and his wife Joyce opened Bob Lobster restaurant and fresh seafood market back in 2001.
