The Grog Restaurant is Newburyport's Craft Beer Destination!

A stone’s throw away from historic downtown Market Square, The Grog Restaurant, a Newburyport tradition has been serving locals and visitors for for over 45 years.  Some might call it Newburyport’s version of Cheers, “where everyone knows know your name!” The Grog has built a reputation for great food, friendly service and fun casual pub style atmosphere.  They are also know for always being open, typically even during snow storms! The perfect hangout for a cold draft, juicy burger and the best live music, The Grog hosts a variety of local and regional bands ranging from Rock to Reggae.

The Grog offers an extensive selection of craft beers and a menu that features something for everyone. Whether you’re just in the mood for a sandwich and a cup of soup or you’re ready for a more traditional entree, you are certain to find something tempting on the Grog menu. Poplar items include the marinated steak tips and Shepard’s Pie, and you can always choose from an excellent selection of steaks, fish and Mexican dishes. The Grog offers a kids menu and we highly recommend checking out the daily specials.  The Grog Restaurant also offers an extensive selection of gluten-free dishes including oysters in a half shell, Cobb salad and Carolina dry-rubbed ribs.

If your planning an event the 2nd floor of the Grog offers a spacious function area. The Grog is known for hosting many fundraising events that help to give back to local organizations within the community. The most notable annual event of the year is the Chili Cook-off and Craft Beer Fest. The event always features live music and proceeds for this event help to raise substantial money for local charitable organizations. This event is typically held in the beginning of October but you can always check the Newburyport.com Events Calendar for the specific date and details.
