Haley’s Ice Cream
Known for Ice Cream and the food is great too!
Whether you’re looking for a cool treat or to grab a bite to eat, Haley’s Ice Cream, a Newburyport staple, is the perfect place to visit. This classic diner proudly serves award-winning Gifford’s Ice Cream, selected as the #1 ice cream in the world for 7 years in a row at the Wisconsin Dairy Contest. But the menu doesn’t stop there. Haley’s also offers a full lunch and dinner menu—featuring local favorites like BBQ ribs, fresh cut onion rings, and an 8 oz burger. At Haley’s they are proud to boast that nothing is frozen but the ice cream.
Located along the Clipper City Rail Trail, Haley’s has a great outdoor space with tables and bike racks, making it the perfect pit stop for anyone enjoying the trail for the day. Also conveniently located right off of Route 1, this family-friendly diner is a go-to destination for kids’ birthday parties and end of the season ice cream celebrations.
For car enthusiasts, Haley’s Ice Cream hosts a weekly “Cruise Night” every other Tuesday evening in the summer, weather permitting. Check out antique and special interest cars, trucks, and cycles while enjoying a scoop or a burger. Visit the events calendar for more details.
Haley’s Ice Cream, owned and operated by Ken Santiano, has been a local favorite since 1952. Ken purchased the diner from Nancy Roy, Haley’s original owner, in 2019.
Ken already has quite a following as owner of Riverside Cafe, a very popular Newburyport breakfast and lunch spot. You’ll regularly find Ken working alongside his employees in the kitchen or greeting his loyal customers and new guests.
