Metzy's Cantina Family Fresh Mexican Food This popular Newburyport restaurant is located in a beautifully restored train station building next to the commuter rail and adjacent to the Clipper City Rail Trail. Metzy’s Cantina is locally owned and operated by Erik Metzdorf, who lives on Plum Island with his family and also operates Metzy’s Taqueria, the highly regarded taco truck that is frequently based at the Plum Island Arport during the warm weather months. You will also find the truck at many major events and fundraisers in Newburyport and surrounding towns, as well.

Erik is a visible owner, engaged in the day to day operations of his business, welcoming guests and constantly striving to deliver the best possible customer experience for his many loyal customers. Erik prides himself on consistently delivering  exceptionally fresh, high quality food. The Metzy’s menu was designed using a limited number of ingredients across a wide range of dishes in order to optimize quality.

Metzy's Cantina Fresh Mexican Food, Newburyport Metzy’s serves delicious Taqueria-style street food featuring specialty burritos and tacos, creative salads & delicious seasonal soup options for lunch and dinner.  Experience Newburyport’s favorite fresh Mexican food with Chef Rosa, who was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico where she started working in the kitchen at 8 years of age making tamales. Rosa immigrated to the US when she was 24, and attended culinary school. Chef Rosa is a local Newburyport resident and a true foodie, passionate about cooking for family and friends and she’s a wonderful addition to the Metzy’s Cantina team.

In addition, to their reputation for fresh Mexican food, Metzy’s is a popular choice for after work gatherings with friends as they offer great selection of creative cocktails with a variety of tasty margaritas and a nice wine list.
