Olive's Coffee & Bakehouse Brings Fresh Baked Goods and Coffee to Town
When looking for a coffee pick me up or a tasty treat to satisfy that sweet tooth, a stop into Olive’s Coffee & Bakehouse in Newburyport is a must. Named after owner Debra Ball’s late English bulldog Olive—whose portrait is featured prominently on the wall—this grab-and-go coffee shop has its very own in-house baker, promising only the freshest of options. Walk through the bright red front door and you will be greeted with a gorgeous ambiance and enticing smells of what’s being whipped up for the day.
The shop’s motto is “the right ingredients in life make a difference. We want you to experience what it is like when every single detail matters. Delicious drinks and food that hit the spot.” And it rings so true once you’ve experienced a visit at Olive’s.
Of course, it revolves around the delicious menu at Olive’s Coffee & Bakehouse, which is always changing with a different selection of pastries and baked goods like scones, honey biscuits, donuts, and cookies. All the more reason to stop in often! We highly recommend Olive’s if you’re a bagel & lox aficionado or a connoisseur of tasty breakfast sandwiches! Olive’s has something for all dietary needs too— offering a great selection of gluten-free and vegan options. Pair your treats with a fresh cup of coffee or latte or try out the bakehouse’s popular house-made Chai tea.
While you’re pondering your order with so many tempting choices, pull out your phone and snap a selfie with the bakehouse’s iconic Olive’s sign—the name is spelled out in lightbulbs—making it a backdrop fit for a movie star. Don’t forget to tag Olive’s if you post it on social, #olivescoffeeandbakehouse or @olivescoffeeandbakehouse
There is no indoor seating at Olive’s Coffee & Bakehouse, but when the weather is nice grab a spot outback on one of the red Adirondack chairs to hang out with the locals. Providing a sense of community and fitting in with the neighborhood is a big part of Olive’s—offering a place to gather and enjoy good food and company does just that.
But perhaps what makes Olive’s Coffee & Bakehouse really stand out are the people behind it. Newburyport local, owner, and Olive’s mastermind Debra Ball brings 14 years of experience running a restaurant to the storefront. By her side the entire way is John. They have owned and operated Zume’s Coffee House, another cafe in Charlestown, for over a decade. While John still holds down the fort at Zume’s, Debra is stepping out on her own with Olive’s. This female boss lady has built herself an amazing team to back her up. Debra attributes much of her success to her loyal and dedicated team.
Olive’s Coffee & Bakehouse is located on High Street in Newburyport. Along with street parking, there is also a small parking lot behind the storefront.
