Neighborhood Bistro Offers Warm and Welcoming Vibe
From its prime location at 35 Market Square, the heart of the Newburyport restaurant scene, West Row Café & Bar has fast positioned itself as a hip yet family-friendly neighborhood bistro where locals come for a fun lunch or dinner.
Owner David Pierre and Executive Chef, Chris McGowan’s vision for a warm and welcoming neighborhood bistro begins with the soft blue-gray walls reminiscent of a day at the ocean. The restaurant’s decor invokes pride of place, from the nautical theme of the menus to the historic photos of Market Square adorning the restroom walls.
West Row serves up American regional cuisine with a twist: popular New England favorites including lobster dip, littleneck clams, and clam chowder share the menu with inventively presented grains such as farro, quinoa, and barley. Its signature burger boasts fried mushrooms and caramelized onions topped with gruyere and a roasted tomato aioli. Raw bar options round out a menu that manages to be both comforting and creative, with offerings for all ages and tastes.
As a complement to the exceptional menu, West Row features a selective wine list, numerous signature cocktails and a variety of local craft beers.
The restaurant makes smart and efficient use of the space formerly occupied by an Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt shop, with a lively bar area and table seating for 40. In fine weather, an outdoor patio overlooking Newburyport’s pedestrian-only Inn Street seats an additional 38.
West Row Cafe & Bar achieves that delicate balance between atmosphere and attitude – a neighborhood bistro for casual fine dining, whether you’re treating your family to dinner or looking to impress a first date.
