Affamata, Hungry for More...Passion for Cooking, Eating & Entertaining

Affamata is Newburyport’s very own culinary boutique and specialty cookware store. Originally founded in 2015 as Port Plums & Newburyport Olive Oil, a renovation of the store in 2022 resulted in a rebranding. Co-founders, mother and daughter duo, Karen and Katie Shernan wanted a space that matched the sophistication of the products they carry. With thanks to local Designers, Kelsy Stromsky and Ashley Bongo, their vision became a reality. The new name, Affamata, is Italian for hungry and though you will no doubt feel that way when browsing the many delicious product options in store, the name also implies hungry for more…knowledge, education and an overall passion for cooking, eating and entertaining.

Affamata is well known for their extensive selection of infused, specialty and extra virgin olive oils as well as balsamic vinegars. The redesigned store has allowed for a bright showroom displaying tabletop linens and place settings…just perfect for your dinner party or special gathering. Moving to the area and need to set up your kitchen? Look no further; all you need is right here. Find numerous offerings of locally made culinary products as well as thoughtfully curated and unique pieces such as Amish wooden dipping boards and handcrafted pottery.

Need help choosing the perfect hostess gift? The Affamata staff is extremely knowledgeable and eager to offer advice and product information. Let them help you set up your gift registry or prepare gift boxes for your company. From bakeware, cookware and barware to tabletop and serving…you will be impressed but never overwhelmed by the quality selections. Located in the Tannery Marketplace in downtown Newburyport, there truly is something here for everyone!

In addition to buying from and supporting local culinary vendors, Affamata works closely with local charitable organizations including Essex County Green Belt Land Trust and Newburyport’s Firehouse Center, a performing arts theater. From the love and support of their community to giving their customers a space to feed their own hunger for cooking and entertaining, Affamata has found the perfect recipe for success!
