Shop Local for Women's Designer Fashions at Gentry's Consignment

Whether you’re looking to sell or shop, Gentry’s Consignment, located in Newburyport’s Tannery, is the premier spot in town for women’s fashion. With a focus on modern, casual, and designer items ranging from shoes to bags to clothing, this upscale consignment shop prides itself on scoring the best items from consigners to put on its ever-changing racks. This in turn offers buyers an excellent selection of must-have items and a reason to come back again and again.

Gentry’s features a wide range of styles and pieces for women of all ages, promising quality clothing at affordable prices. Shoppers can expect to find brands ranging from Converse to Gucci and everything in between. Stop in to find the perfect outfit for a special occasion, to freshen up your wardrobe with casual staples or to update your closet for a new job or life transition. Gentry’s has three fitting rooms in the store so you can be sure you love the clothing you selected before purchasing. New merchandise hits the floor every single week, so many customers visit often to score the best items.

Gentry’s has been a Newburyport staple for over 20 years. Owner and local Newburyport Resident Susan Combs, purchased the shop from the most recent owners, Nick and Pat Milley, in February 2021 after working for them for three years. Combs loves the connection Gentry’s Consignment has to the community and is passionate about the environmental benefits of consignment. Repurposing clothing keeps it out of landfills and as Combs points out, “things you may no longer love can be somebody else’s treasures.”

Want to join the world of sustainable fashion and become a seller? Head to your closet and assess what you’re ready to part with. Then call Gentry’s to schedule an appointment at 978-463-0040. All items must be in excellent condition—cleaned, pressed and preferably on hangers. Once Gentry’s has accepted your items, they will be priced and placed on the floor for eight weeks. Gentry’s offers a 60/40 split, where consignors receive 40% of the final selling price. After the eight week period, you can choose to retrieve your items that did not sell or opt to have the store donate them to charity to continue the life cycle of the clothing. Proceeds from your sales can be used as a store credit or you can choose to collect a check. Shop Local and Consign Local at Gentry’s!
