Dr. Markarian understands the delicate interplay between appearance and self-confidence. Most importantly, he is committed to setting the highest standards of care, delivering the best patient education, safety, privacy, comfort, and surgical results.

Why is it important to have a plastic surgeon perform your Botox treatments? Let me answer that question with a question.  If you need to have knee surgery do you look for someone with strong credentials and a proven track record, or do you just pick the first name that comes up in your Google search? Botox is a treatment that is performed by a very broad spectrum of people. You could go to a Botox party where folks are drinking wine and receiving Botox injections from a person who may not have extensive formal training, or you can schedule an appointment with a Harvard trained  Plastic Surgeon and who can perform your treatment in a welcoming and relaxing Newburyport town house environment. We encourage the girls night, out but suggest it is best to leave Botox off the agenda!

Harvard University only accepts one plastic surgeon per year into the Aesthetics Medical Program. I was honored to be part of this exceptional program and train and learn with an elite group of medical professionals. The key to Botox lies in truly understanding the anatomy of the injected area, and more importantly, the variability in the anatomy of each patient — for brows, the forehead, and anywhere else you plan on receiving Botox injections. This includes having a firm understanding of the origin, insertion point, and action of each muscle that will be injected, the thickness of each targeted muscle and how deep beneath the skin the actual muscle resides, to name a few potential variations. When having a neurotoxin injected into your face it is very important that your treatment is being administered in a medical facility by a plastic surgeon who has extensive knowledge and training in the field.

As an aesthetic-trained plastic surgeon, I often perform brow and facelift surgeries which provide me with an intimate perspective of the anatomy of these same areas into which Botox is injected. I frequently see the actual muscles themselves and learn “first-hand” how their placement and size can vary. For me, this helps guide where I inject my Botox patients.
