YOUTH FISHING CLINC AT CASHMAN PARK – FREE EVENT!

Cashman Park Youth Fishing Clinic

Join local families Saturday, May 21st, from 11 AM to 2 PM at Cashman Park in Newburyport for a fun day of fishing!  The rain date is Sunday, May 22nd.  The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) and the City of Newburyport are sponsoring a youth fishing clinic for children under the age of 18.

Marine biologists will be on hand to help teach basic saltwater angling skills.  Fishing equipment and bait will be provided for fishing from the pier and from shore.  There will also be other fun fish-related activities and handouts.  This is a FREE event but registration is required to participate (see link below).  Parents must stay with their child(ren) during the event.  Participation is limited so sign up soon!

This youth fishing clinic is a great opportunity to introduce your child to the basics of fishing while enjoying some quality time by the water.  Activities include:

  • Learn to cast with spinning reels
  • Test your knot tying skills
  • Fun and educational handouts
  • Gyotaku fish prints with paint
  • Learn how to measure fish
  • Catch and release fishing!!

Cashman Park is located on Sally Snyder Way off of Merrimac St. in Newburyport, MA.  Parking and porta potties are available on site.
